Privacy and Collection & Use of Personal Information

Your privacy and the security of your personal information are very important to us. Please read the following privacy statement (“Privacy Statement”) carefully as it explains how Swiss Clinic collects and uses certain information, including the personal information that you supply to or otherwise make available through the Web Site.

Scope of Privacy Policy / Links

This Privacy Statement applies only to the Web Site and the information collected by Swiss Clinic or supplied by you through the Web Site. Although the Web Site may provide you with links to other Web sites, this Privacy Statement does not apply to those Web sites or to the other collection, use or disclosure of personal information by Swiss Clinic by means other than through this Web Site.

Type of Information Collected and Use
Active Information Collection

At various points on the Web Site, you might choose to actively provide certain kinds of information, including personally identifiable information, such as your full name, address, phone number, e-mail address and other personal details, etc. All information that you provide on the Web Site is provided at your option in connection with your use of the Web Site Content or when you use interactive tools that may be available on the Web Site. With respect to all content and information you submit or post to the Web Site you represent and warrant to Swiss Clinic that you have the lawful right to do so without limitation or restriction.

Consent

In any case, by submitting information via an “active information collection point” at the Web Site, you are expressly consenting to the collection, use, and disclosure of such information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

“Active information collection points” at the Web Site may include:

a. E-mail Reply Mechanisms

The Web Site may provide you with one or more e-mail mechanisms through which you may submit questions or comments. Information you provide via such e-mail mechanisms is all optional. Swiss Clinic may use the information you provide in your e-mail to respond to your inquiry, and Swiss Clinic reserves the right to retain whatever information you submit in your e-mail, including your name, e-mail address, and any comments or other information that you send via the e-mail mechanism.

b. Question, Comment, and Feedback Forms

The Web Site may post a form for you to use in submitting questions, comments, and other feedback about Swiss Clinic or products and services and other topics. Swiss Clinic uses such feedback information to improve the Web Site, as well as for marketing and research purposes. Most information you provide in such forms is optional, but you will need to provide at least some personally identifiable information, such as your name, address, e-mail address, and phone number, so that Swiss Clinic may respond to your inquiry.

c. Product Information, and Catalogue Request Forms

The Web Site may include a form that you can use to request information about Swiss Clinic and/or its products. In addition to asking you to identify the specific information or materials in which you are interested, these forms may request, among other things, your name, address, and e-mail address, so that Swiss Clinic may send you the information or materials you request. These forms may also request certain demographic information about you to help Swiss Clinic better understand your interests and needs.

d. Surveys and Evaluations

The Web Site may ask you to complete optional surveys and evaluations about Swiss Clinic or its products, and other related topics. These surveys and evaluations might request personally identifiable information, such as your name and e-mail address, so that Swiss Clinic can follow up with you. Typically, Swiss Clinic uses such surveys and evaluations to better understand our customers and their preferences

Passive Information Collection

The Web Site uses various technologies to passively collect information from you while you are visiting (that is, you do not actively provide this information). Such technologies allow the Web Site to collect a range of non-personally identifiable information, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address (a unique identifier automatically assigned to your computer when logging onto the Internet), the type of Web browser and operating system you use, the date and time you visit the Web, the specific pages you visit on the Web Site, and the address of the Web site you visited before coming to the Web Site.

Swiss Clinic typically uses such passively collected information for a variety of purposes, such as to administer the Web Site, customize the Web Site to your preferences, and compile aggregated statistics for marketing and research purposes. Swiss Clinic reserves the unrestricted right to use this passively collected, non-personally identifiable information, including, but not limited to, selling, leasing, permitting access to, or otherwise transferring it to our affiliates, business partners, advertisers and other third parties.

The “passive information collection” technologies that we use may include “cookies”. Cookies are small text files that store information about your interactions with a particular Web site, either temporarily (known as a “temporary” or “session” cookie, and deleted once you close your browser window) or more permanently on the hard drive of your computer (known as a “permanent” or “persistent cookie”). Cookies can make it easier to use a Web site by allowing servers to access certain information quickly:

  • “Session” cookies can be used to help a user’s browser navigate a Web site more smoothly and may show up if the user comes from a Web site with which the subsequent Web site has some relationship (e.g., a Web site of an affiliated company) and can give helpful information.
  • “Persistent” cookies can be used to customize a Web site for a user, such as by storing passwords, preferences, and registration and account information so that users do not have to re-enter them each time they visit a Web site.

The Web Site uses both session/temporary cookies and persistent/permanent cookies to store information that allows Swiss Clinic to offer you better service and to navigate through the Web Site with ease. To make the Web Site easier to use, Swiss Clinic may combine information collected via cookies with personally identifiable information. Note that if you configure your browser to reject cookies, you might not be able to access important functions or areas of the Web Site or enjoy certain conveniences at the Web Site.

Protection

Swiss Clinic will use reasonable efforts to protect your information from loss, misuse, or alteration. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while Swiss Clinic strives to protect your personal information, Swiss Clinic cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to Swiss Clinic, and you do so at your own risk. Once Swiss Clinic receives your transmission, Swiss Clinic will use its reasonable efforts to ensure its security on its systems.

Uses and Disclosure of Information

Except as otherwise expressly described above, Swiss Clinic will not use, and will not disclose or provide any of your personal information to any other person; provided however that Swiss Clinic may disclose your personal information to the extent required by law or where Swiss Clinic reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to comply with law. Also, from time to time, Swiss Clinic’s third party service providers may have access to information you submit via the Web Site to provide operational or other support services for the Web Site (e.g., Web hosting or database services). Swiss Clinic may also disclose and transfer any information submitted by you to any third party purchaser of Swiss Clinic or the part of its business to which the Web Site relates.

Opting Out and Correcting Personal Information

If you would like to update or correct your personal information previously submitted by you to Swiss Clinic, to the extent such updating or correcting will not compromise privacy or security interests, Swiss Clinic will use reasonable efforts to allow you to update or correct such information.

Upon written request submitted by you to Swiss Clinic at Beaty@SwissClinic.ca, Swiss Clinic will use reasonable efforts to functionally remove your personal information from the Web Site.
